Accounting Manager (Non-cleared)

About this job

Candidate is responsible for overseeing the General Accounting and Financial Reporting functions and the financial services area including Credit, A/R and A/P.   The Accounting Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining a system of internal controls that will ensure that company assets are adequately safeguarded and that all financial reporting is prepared in compliance with all financial policies, SEC requirements and US GAAP.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex financial/administrative reporting for assigned contracts and/or programs in order to monitor costs.
  • Responsible and accountable for all operations of the finance function, including accounting, financial and tax planning, audit, budget development, debt and equity financing, and operation cost, schedule, contract performance, variance and risk analysis and prepares reports as required.
  • Development of cost controls, procedures, systems and forecasting techniques to evaluate contract/program status, ensuring compliance with government and customer requirements.
  • May be assigned to government mandated cost/accounting systems.
  • Oversees the general accounting function, which includes inter-company accounting, cash management/reconciliation, financial reporting, balance sheet management (excluding inventory related items) and royalty management.
  • Monitors budgets, financial and administrative activities for programs or proposals.
  • Primary liaison between company and customer.
  • Responsible for the employment, training, motivation and discipline of assigned employees
  • Initiation and development of financial policies and planning; directs preparation and submittal, in compliance with appropriate laws, regulations and corporate requirements, of accurate and timely financial tax and regulatory corporate reports.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Accounting; or Bachelor’s degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting highly desired.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of combined Accounting experience with a minimum of two (2) years of Accounts Payable experience
    • CPA Certification may be substituted in lieu of two (2) years’ experience.
  • Familiar with DCAA requirements and guidelines
  • Highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
  • Highly skilled in use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Proficient in use of MS Word
  • Possess strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls and financial reporting, required.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory

Desired Competencies:

  • Experience in analyzing business performance and developing financial plans within a small business environment desirable.
  • Experience in working in an IT business with a focus on federal contracts.
